You have the right to flip off anyone you like.
You can not be arrested for it.
That does not mean that other things will not happen because your boss, coworkers, family members, neighbors and people on the street find your conduct distasteful.
People who do not want to associate with you do not have to do so.

I think it’s true that one of the reasons that the feds can fire an employee is if they embarrass the agency, i.e., DUI, domestic violence, etc.

Normally, I am not a fan of firing someone for something they did outside the workplace. In this case she bragged about it at work and made her bias known. Can't work at the DOJ and be trusted to be fair.
It is a shame that manners have gone by the wayside. Her mama should have smacked her a few more times.
