Are there “good cops” and “bad cops”. Yes.
I am convinced there many more cops who are good most of the time by have bad days or bad reactions at some time.
The standard of being a “good cop” all the time is very high. It is difficult to never make a mistake, never lose your temper, never use your authority to deliver a “little street justice”.
I have known a number of police officers fairly well. I don’t like to say it, but most of them were willing to treat people differently if they were “not respectful” of the uniform, or if those who were suspects did not immediately do everything they could to make the officer’s job easier.
Police are people. They make mistakes. They take offense. They assume things which are not necessarily true.
It can be a tough job - but most police would agree it is 99% boredom with 1% terror!
I’m originally from Jax. Bad cops are everywhere.
You brought this up one time to me even though I had not even mentioned it in my post. It was apparently bothering you that I have a problem. I grew up in a Law Enforcement family and I am very familiar with Law Enforcement. I grew up in the Blue circle.
But let me ask you this and I would like a respectful yes or no. Is the driver of the getaway car not guilty of Bank Robbery because “Technically” he did not physically go in the Bank to rob it?
You can find the good stories and post them if you like.
But sadly those guys in the "good" stories are quite often the same guys who stand by silently while the "bad" police are acting like fools.
You know how you can tell that? Because the bad police don't get fired. They are "allowed to resign" and then they go down the road to the next cop shop where they are hired because, "we believe in second chances".
But mostly nothing happens to them.
They retire with big pensions. Their victims get, after years of litigation, about two years worth of their retirement benefits.
They should have one of those sign-language spazz ladies do their thing like they do at democrat “press conferences”.
I remember this, I heard the mayor or someone at a press conference apologizing to the family before I had even heard about what happened.
I was immediately sure someone had f’d up royally
then there was this
and this
what happened to the good old days in Seattle when the drunks were under the viaduct instead of just off broadway
and everyone loved the Dicks on broadway

I do not know what post you are referring to.
The answer to your question cannot be given as “yes” or “no” without knowing what statute he would be charged under. Statutes vary quite a bit by state.
They need to uphold the law when their fellow public servants violate it.
But they don't.
They stand by and watch ...
They're complicit.
Is there an award for this, these cops?
They need to be awarded a nice thick coat of tar and feathers.
Sounds like my second grade nun
Sounds like a Peter Sellers movie.
You're equating the behavior of these two assclowns with all police officers. Another logical fallacy along with 'Bad police don't get fired.' Of course they do.
I’m having trouble believing this story.
The police were just doing their jobs, following standard procedure. There is no record of any policeman violating any citizen’s rights.
There are police officers out there who punch in and punch out, it's just a job.
Then there are police officers out there who can and would piss off a nun.
Sadly the one's who get the most press are the third ones.
Those cops did nothing to root out the thugs. Covid should have taught us that the police are not on our side.
You are an extremely intelligent and highly respected entity here, so I know you read my question and full well understood it as the comparison it was meant to be... :)
