One of my lesbian friends was also an alcoholic. She kept it controlled to after school hours and she was a most brilliant teacher in an inner city school. Broke my heart but it never took her over before her cancer took her away. The bravest and best-hearted woman and totally adored by her classes. Taught them Shakespeare in a way that they enjoyed. They protected her in the school neighborhood and she was one of the characters in a stage play written by one of her fellow teachers. There are so many good people whose loss should cause the sky to darken and the world to rage. She was one.
And yet...
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...
