This infuriates me. I am a Florida teacher who has worked her a$$ off trying to get certified.
See, I wanted to be a teacher as a kid, parents refused because they were afraid of left wing indoctrination in the teaching programs. Further, since I had a talent with writing, they insisted I study Creative Writing instead (yeah, no left wing indoctrination in the arts, Mom and Dad...)
I have had interview after interview. I’m a certified ELA teacher — and I can’t get a teaching job in 6-12 to save my danged life... my real goal was to teach ESE but on the adivce of a psychic (my parents were idiots) who said I’d be a famous writer — they insisted on the arts if they were paying. Great return on their investment... did I say they were idiots?
Anyway... I know how to behave. I have never treated students like this... and yet... I search and search like Snoopy... only to see the signs saying, “No dogs allowed...”
And this crazy broad has a job...
Keep trying! Great teachers make a difference!
(BTW, are you a Weeki Wachee girl? I always thought they were so cool.)
The national is short hundreds of thousands of teachers. I’m surprised at your lack of success.
I was employed as a teacher for 2 yrs, then told I wouldn’t be renewed. The real reason for not being renewed, I told my department head, who was having affairs with multiple teachers in the school, and students reported comments between him and one of the teachers, a subordinate teacher who they let go, not him, that if he was in industry they would have walked him out the door on day one. He didn’t like me telling him the truth. I didn’t mind getting out of there, because if the principal was condoning his behavior, it was just f’d up. And lets not even get started on the teachers union.
