I saw a cartoon in a magazine many years ago. It was of a decrepit old man bent over, obviously in poor health, sitting on an exam table. The doctor is saying, “The 10 years that you added to your life by quitting smoking, drinking, and eating right…this is them”. Enjoy your life while you can. Everything in moderation.
“Smoking takes ten years off your life. Well it’s the ten worst years, isn’t it folks? It’s the ones at the end! It’s the wheelchair, kidney dialysis, adult diaper years. You can have those years! We don’t want ‘em, alright?” - Dennis Leary
There was a similar cartoon in some mag I don’t remember of two ancient old guys in a hospital room all hooked up to wires and tubes and monitors.
One turns to the other and says, “I sure am glad I quit smoking thirty years ago! I wouldn’t want to miss this!”..................
“Everything in moderation. Especially moderation.” - Oscar Wilde..................
That’s just plain stupid. Not funny at all.
My mom did those things and was active and mentally clear, loving life and her great-grandkids, to the day she died… at 93. I don’t do those unenjoyable things and never will.
The old man sitting on the examination table in a gown, and the doctor is telling him,” You’ve got gallstones, kidney stones, and bladder stones. Welcome to the Stone Age!”
