A Florida man repeatedly used his sprinkler system to hose down special needs children as they got on and off their school bus, police have said.
Antonio Roman, 61, was arrested by deputies with Marion County Sheriff's Office after repeatedly using the sprinkler system on the family next door to him in Ocala.
Officials say he intentionally activated the sprinklers twice daily, when his two victims departed for school and again when they returned.
Deputies said the father of the children had to resort to wearing a swim suit to shield his children, who use wheelchairs, from the repeat behavior.
Footage obtained by WFTV shows the sprinklers activating as two of the children are being wheeled out to the bus.
One of the sprinklers appears to rotate round to soak the child and their father as they are pushed onto the bus.
Police say the neighbors had advised them that such behavior had been ongoing since August 8 of last year.
A detective sat and watched the property and found he was using a surveillance system to activate the sprinklers which were aimed directly at the bus.

No I don’t think it’s okay. However I have dealt with “crank old men” in the past and the best thing is to just steer clear of them.
When I dealt with them this was in the 1980’s when they were just all mouth. Now days? You never know. Today it’s a sprinkler system, tomorrow it may be a gun.
I’m saying move the damn bus stop JUST TO KEEP THE PEACE!!!!
This has gone far beyond- get the city to move the bus stop. The guy is a menace!!

That should happen but in no way excuses the old man from guilt. The school/bus company has no skin in the game so they have no motivation to stop. But perhaps they are limited in what they can and cannot do.
He’s WRONG. Period. Full stop.
And he needs to be convinced to stop bullying people, which is exactly what he’s doing. And if being arrested is what it takes, so be it.
But the neighbors should not have to move because of him. And this is the city right of way or easement. It’s for public access, not his own personal property. If someone came up into his property proper, off the easement, he’d have a point and should put up no trespassing signs.

He is saying the wheelchair ramp/lift comes down in his driveway. This is what the article says. So how is this happening?
That means they are loading in his driveway. I saw the ramp in a video. That is a huge metal thing that could damage concrete.
Now the bus company does not have say so but the board of education does. According to this article they will not move it.
I don’t think this man has a beef with disabled kids it’s the bus and his property he has his knickers in a wad over.

Well, he’s taking it out on the wrong people who also do not have a say in the matter.
Harassing and assaulting the kids and their father is NOT going to change the situation.
And from what the articles says or a post upthread, these aren’t the only people he does this to. If it’s the city right of way, he has no complaint.
The board of education could move the bus so that the wheelchair ramp does not touch this man’s driveway.

I’ve seen video of his home. There is no sidewalk and this diveway goes right to the street. He’s had trouble with the HOA in the past because he put up a gate at the end of his drive way, it didn’t say but my bet is because of the bus.
Okay that is a van but what about a school bus? Those are bigger?
