Back in the old days when I was growing up in the farming country of the upper midwest farmers were just transitioning from draft horse use to tractors. Many, like my dad still kept one team around for light field work like corn planting and in the winter to pull the bobsled, but eventually, all the aged and feeble horses were sold to a local mink farm in the area and feed to the minks.

I had to put my dog to sleep . It was pretty traumatic the way they did it. It was not what I was lead to believe would happen. I can't imagine then saying go feed her to the lions.

Melissa Hortman, DFL Minnesota and her husband were assassinated along with the family dog. All 3 laid in State, I was disappointed that they hadn't stuffed the dog. Also it was a shame that the Catholic Church forbid the dog at the funeral. I guess the Church doesn't agree that “Dogs are people too.” /s

The pets don’t have human moms; they have owners. The pony’s mom was a mare.

Yes! Unless some women had some really unethical embryonic transplants, a cats’s mom is a cat. Dog’s mom is a bitch (hmm some possible room for interpretation there), etc.

Seriously, my mother killed our pet duck and served it up to us for dinner. She deboned it and called it pot roast. Wasn’t it delicious? IT WAS DONALD (BIG GRIN)!

I haven’t been able to eat duck since.

You don’t do this to pets.
