Brett Cooper and Conservatism’s Creative Bankruptcy
Chronicles Magazine ^ | July 22, 2025 | Mark Judge

Posted on 08/16/2025 7:33:00 AM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Actress and conservative influencer Brett Cooper was just profiled in a lengthy piece in The New York Times. Once a star at the Daily Wire, Cooper has now been signed to Fox News. I have bad news for right-wingers waiting for a young messiah for the culture, however. Brett Cooper is not coming to save you. In fact, she will do what every other conservative on TV and social media does—the same thing Cooper, although only 23, has been doing for years.

She’s going to sit behind a microphone and react to liberalism.

What Brett Cooper will not be being doing is writing novels or making music or movies—least not real movies. Like most “personalities” on the right, she will not be creating. She will be reacting.

At some point, conservatives are going to exhaust the supply of “hey-look-at-the-crazy-lefties” commentariat. We’re going to have to make something.

Is the problem in the getting married, or is the problem the way the divorce/custody laws have become twisted over the last 100/150 years or so?

The problem isn't getting married itself. But the financial incentives are there especially if you are a woman.

It's a bad deal if you're a guy in this country.

That would be the divorce/custody laws and how they have been turned into a government/female power over the male in marriage.

I agree. There’s not nearly enough cultural criticism of the left. If the new gal can talk her generation into dumping liberals good on her.

I would like to see an updated version of Red Dawn. The movie would about an Antifa, Oct 7th attack on America and the response. In the movie normal people use their guns to defend themselves until the National Guard shows up. It would have a pro 2A theme.

One thing Alinsky got right is that Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. And it’s about darn time we started using it.

A license implies permission.
Permission implies authority.
Marriage and Union are very different from a legal contract.

Most states did not require marriage licenses until the 20th century. Often put in place to control who was allowed to marry.

Cherry picking establishment folks from developed Colonial Possesions does not support the claim.

If Flying Spaghetti monster is your choice, then a Pastafarian Union is the path, not a state license.

Don’t mix the two: a State contract with State duties and obligations vs a Union of Persons with private contractual obligations and duties.
They are not the same.

And abandoned children still happens, even with the hallowed license.

Folks can create the benefits and rights by legal contract, and don’t need a marriage license.

Black and white couldn’t get a license. Homosexuals couldn’t get a license.
So the marriage license law was bad before but now it’s all good?

No thank you.
Government has no business in it.

I will leave this exchange here for folks to review.
Peace to you my friend.

Gangs of New York was simply a current, popular fictional reference to a historical truth.

Throughout US History, new groups were often seen as “the other”.
Happens all over the world.

Europe has their Polish Plumber, England has their Paki cab driver, and America has their Mexican Landscaper.

It doesn’t matter what they call it a Bann, or a license, or recognition of common-law marriage, as long as it is legal, otherwise, do whatever you want, if you are a Muslim soldier that might mean shacking up with 4 women, or a Mormon Marine with 20 women, but when it comes to widow benefits, you better have something legal, if you want a widow recognized.

America has always done that, from the beginning.

I get that you are trying to push immigration, besides that and polygamy, and homosexual marriage, what other positions do you share with the Libertarian Party, all of them?

I didn’t particularly like the Indian story in 1923, but didn’t consider it woke. It was a strand of history. That Catholic boarding schools for Indian orphans who contracted with the US government abused some students is hardly controversial. It’s incontestable. Obviously it’s not the only truth of that history, but it’s certainly part of it.

And to your point, yes, of course, sometimes prevailing trends in non-fiction are upstream from fiction. Sometimes it’s the other way around as well. Certainly seems generally true that “politics” is downstream from “culture” though and conceptually, the writing of history and other forms of non-fiction fall into the “culture” bucket even if Judge focused on the fiction component of the bucket because that’s what he likes.

with regards to Sheridan, you might also watch Landman. At times, it spills over into being anti-woke. Billy Bob Thornton’s pro fossil fuels and anti-renewables (especially wind) rants are hilarious, artistic ....and pretty well spot on.

The woke left wouldn’t survive more than a single episode of Landman.
