I was only familiar with the Dave Clark Five version, and it sounds like they stuck pretty close to the original.

We used to do a Jazzercise routine to this song. So. Much. Fun! Best time ever was an EIGHT HOUR fundraising marathon with all of us doing Jazzercise for a number of hours at a time.
I really miss the 80's!
