Classic. Great song. Didn’t know they had a video. Going to down load that. I dj, and play that song every now and then depending on the age of the crowd. Video makes it even better. Thanks.
After Robert Lee Dicky retired, Ben Moore teamed up with James Purify. We were living in Pensacola at the time, and had a lawn maintenance/landscaping business.
Ben had fallen on hard times and worked as laborer for us. Super nice guy, not singing much anymore at that time. Some Saturdays in the summer he and another guy we called Catfish would come out to our house outside of town and they and my husband would do the maintenance on our place. I had a big garden at that time and would prepare lunch (usually vegetables, fried chicken and cornbread) and they would sit down at my kitchen table to eat. He loved cornbread.
I can still see him sitting there saying the blessing. He called me Boss Lady - not my personality at all.
After we moved away, we lost touch with him. He began singing again as I understand it. He lost his eyesight due to glaucoma. He passed away in 2022. :-(
