Gaza hasn't surrendered after brutally attacking Israeli civilians. Logic says that Israel hasn't attacked Gaza enough.
In all seriousness, when you're at war with an enemy who threw the first punch, and the attacks are mainly targeting your citizens, then you (in this case Israel) have no option except to hit the enemy however hard it takes until they surrender. The "proportionate response" isn't defined by how hard the enemy hit you or by the compassion of the country defending itself. The proportion you strike back is based solely on the commitment of the enemy who is trying to wipe out your society. If it takes only a couple of punches on the nose for the enemy to surrender, fine. But the Gazans or Hamas or "Palestinians" or whatever you want to call them have made it clear that they're not yet ready to stand down. The Muslims there are showing that they won't stop until Israel yanks the Muslims' nuts off and forces them down their throats. That's not my fault nor your fault nor Israel's fault. That's the fault of the blood thirsty violent cult called Islam.

They have plenty of options but preserving “foreign aid” takes precedence.

If wealthy, arms-saturated, well-fed Israel would

I recall when Israel pulled out of Gaza, back in 2005. I knew it was a mistake, and a collossal one, even then and it has taken this long... two decades... to prove me correct. You can’t make deals with the devil and come out ahead or win. And that is essentially the situation that Israel is in right now. Making deals with Hamas is a lose-lose scenario. Always will be. Evil cannot be reasoned with... and you shouldn’t even try.
