But still, why do we need female umpires?

That's a man, baby.

Burst your bubble with facts. All you got is cheap personal slights. You seem to believe that anyone with a different view needs to have their vision checked. You may want to think about how stupid that sounds.

Facts ? The fact is the ball went over the plate within the strike zone.

If you have some proof it wasn”t over the plate and within the strike zone, please put it up.

You’re the one who made the claim so the burden to back it up with facts on on YOU mister “right on the money”. The FACT of the matter is you have absolutely no idea where that ball was in relation to the distance to the plate because you have no way of knowing the precise fraction of a second it was taken. You simply do not know that. You’re just guessing where it was. You would need a high speed camera or an overhead view of the plate to be sure. You have neither but evidently that doesn’t stop you from claiming certainty.

Hey chum, try this at home, play the video, put your finger on the cursor and you can drag the cursor along as fast or as slow as you like . This action will speed the video up or slow it down .

If you do slow the video down, you will see the ball enter the strike zone box that is on the screen.

You will see the ball traveling across the plate while still within the strike zone box.

Can’t be any simpler.

It doesn’t matter. To some, that one call shows she is no good behind as an umpire.

Doesn’t need to finish in the strike zone

Thank you. I was hoping that was the rule.

“If you do slow the video down, you will see the ball enter the strike zone box that is on the screen.”

************

Again, you’re seeing what you want to see. You can slow it down but the irrefutable point is that you don’t really know where the ball is exactly. Its too bad that there wasn’t an overhead view to verify the call. In any case, watch the catcher’s glove. Its never inside the zone and in fact he has trouble framing the pitch; he’s only able to bring it up to the upper corner. Most umpires note the action of a catcher’s glove and it often influences their call. Based on that I would say it was a ball. But I’m not claiming certainty like you are.

Yep. The ABS system was tried in selected parks in Spring Training.

It’s on its way.

Article said her strike accuracy was 88%, on par for the league.

There are websites that show how an umpire did, in each game and over the course of a season.

I'll have to check her out.

I'm not say that she didn't have an amazing game after that.

I'm just said in her very first game, and the first game for any female, she made a very bad call.

I agree, I stopped the video and took a screen shot. Looks to be right on the money . All these folks screaming need an eye exam.

LOL. Why not stop the video when the ball enters the catcher mitt?

That was not a “horrible “ call. Far from it. Some people have to have something to write. For horrendous see Angel Hernandez or Eric Gregg.
