Can Democrats rebrand from ‘woke’?
Carolina Journal ^ | 8/1/25 | David Larson

Key Democrats say they are done with it. Polling shows Americans are tired of it. But can Democrats successfully move on from “woke” and redefine their identity moving into the 2026 elections?

After the 2024 elections, leader after leader in the Democratic Party joined the chorus, blaming “woke” for the party’s travails.

James Carville, who was a key Clinton strategist, said during an episode of his podcast, that the “woke era” “killed” Democrats in the 2024 elections, adding that, while he thinks the party is “beyond it” at some level, “the image stuck in people’s minds that the Democrats wanted to defund the police, wanted to empty prisons.”

US Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, said “over-the-top wokeism” is a “valid attack” on Democrats and needs to be addressed. Former US Congressman Tim Ryan, a Ohio Democrat who lost his Senate race to JD Vance, said the party needs a complete rebrand from this mindset because the name Democrat caused too many people in his state to immediately discount his candidacy.

Can a light bulb be changed? If course, but the light bulb has to WANT to be changed...

Same deal with the Democrat (Socialists). Burned out, they have no inclination to be changed. But they will cling furiously to whatever they are screwed into.

Like they have a corroded base or something.

Basically “rebranding” is “same sh*t, different name.”

Some rebranding works...some does not...why?

Retail Credit had a terrible reputation. They did not clean up their act. But They rebranded as Equifax and now have an acceptable reputation.

AAMCO Transmission had a terrible reputation. They did not change their name. They cleaned up their act and now have a great reputation.

Rebranding political groups is similar. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. Why? How?

Great examples, and if I could answer those questions I’d be rich. At the very least a rebranding for the Dems would have to incorporate a change in cast, and in politics that’s a very hit-or-miss proposition. Putting that tranny in charge of an attempt to re-connect with men, for example, was a definite miss. Pulling him left them back where they started.

Nature abhors a vacuum.

But what replaces “Woke” will be far worse.

The Demoncrats have positioned themselves such that their survival depends on avoiding reality.

The Democrats have moved beyond woke to now openly embracing socialism and Marxist ideas.

Let’s hope not! A stake must be driven through the evil heart of the party of slavery, infanticide, election fraud, political corruption, the Trail of Tears, and every evil ever devised by man or the devil.

The problem is that all the Democrats do is “rebrand” and correct their so-called messaging.

But they never learn.

Many keep saying the Dems are in sharp decline. I doubt this. In November, elections will be held for NYC mayor, Virginia governor, and NJ governor. I can easily see the Democrat nominees sweeping all of these races. Seattle just renominated a slate of hard-core leftists who will undoubtedly prevail in November. I am also concerned about the TX redistricting; it may not come through though most say it will.

Woke is religion for the communist / socialist wing of the party. One doesn’t easily give up one’s religion. So as long as the left rules the party, it’s not going away. They may try to hide it - their religion allows and encourages lying for the cause - but it’s going to come back out once they regain power.

At this point I suspect the chances of “normal” democrats actually taking control of the party back from the left are slim. If it seems to be happening, it’s a lie.
