Can Democrats rebrand from ‘woke’?
Carolina Journal ^ | 8/1/25 | David Larson

Key Democrats say they are done with it. Polling shows Americans are tired of it. But can Democrats successfully move on from “woke” and redefine their identity moving into the 2026 elections?

After the 2024 elections, leader after leader in the Democratic Party joined the chorus, blaming “woke” for the party’s travails.

James Carville, who was a key Clinton strategist, said during an episode of his podcast, that the “woke era” “killed” Democrats in the 2024 elections, adding that, while he thinks the party is “beyond it” at some level, “the image stuck in people’s minds that the Democrats wanted to defund the police, wanted to empty prisons.”

US Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, said “over-the-top wokeism” is a “valid attack” on Democrats and needs to be addressed. Former US Congressman Tim Ryan, a Ohio Democrat who lost his Senate race to JD Vance, said the party needs a complete rebrand from this mindset because the name Democrat caused too many people in his state to immediately discount his candidacy.

It’s a mixed up tumbled up shook up world...but I’m afraid the Dems would splinter into at least 2 or 3 major factions if they tried to become un-woke. Too many true believers in the nonsense - just look for those still wearing masks or attending stupid “Indivisible” rallies, all the while deepening the divisions.

You can’t split the baby, to use a metaphor Dems would understand.

Democrats always have a mask or a front scam they use to fill their agenda most people know it but it’s the slow one’s that pave the way for allowing them to gain control of government.

The everybody has to pay the price of it.

History is free use it.

Branded as woke is the least of the Democrats problems.

They sure as hell are not “beyond it”. They will go back to hiding who they are. They got cocky and started saying what they really believe out loud and in public and it cost them. They will return to deception with MSM helping every step of the way.

They can’t rebrand from “woke” until they stop being “woke”.

Otherwise, it’ll be the same as when they oscillate between “liberal” and “progressive” until each become a dirty word and they switch back to the other.

Really odd - As I was reading your post, Lola started playing on the FM Radio (not a streaming service). Aerosmith before and now Lola.

. The Dems can rebrand but they are struggling. People have short-term memories, but it will be hard for the Dems to change - the new generation is not force-fed TV news like prior gens. They get their info from social media.

The shouldn’t listen to the crypto Republicans in the Democrat party. They need to step up their game and double down. They can’t afford to lose the trans vote. They need to show that they don’t need straight white males.

Dem voters will fall in line pretty quickly if the party leaders want to rebrand.

Except that their leaders are Communists like Bernie Sanders and AOC. Eventually, a young Bill Clinton needs to emerge and then they need to kick the "freaks" out of the party so they'll attract normal Americans again.

No. The noisy ones won’t and they carry the message.

Can Democrats rebrand from ‘woke’?

Yes.

They have done it before. They will do it again in a heartbeat. The minions will follow along the new party lines without missing a step.

The important question is: "will anybody else believe them?".

The less radical Democrats never liked the woke stuff. They went along with it because the more aggressive, activist wing of their party demanded it, and it was useful to them because it gave them influence over the mob.

The problem is that the more aggressive, activist wing of their party still demands it. They've now had a taste of real power, and they like it. They will not support Democrat candidates that they feel have abandoned their agenda.

Recover from woke? How about recovering from being a criminal organization? I’d prefer to see the entire party obliterated.

"Can Democrats rebrand from ‘woke’?"

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

Regarding "woke," elite desperate Democratic and RINO politically correct, vote-winning civil "rights" typically blatantly ignore the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.

In fact, a bunch of Democratic and RINO vote-winning federal civil rights based on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson) probably need to be taken out of the books.

Supporting politically correct civil rights basically gives dirty, post-17th Amendment ratification career politicians the opportunity to continue their abuse of Congress's 16th Amendment (16A; direct taxes), patriots desperately needing to work with their state lawmakers to repeal that amendment.

Patriots need to make the repeal of 16A the main talking point of the 2026 primaries imo. Any 2026 candidate for state or federal office that doesn't publicly promise to support the repeal of 16A shouldn't hold a public office imo.

I cannot say that I have seen the democrats “rebrand” from anything. They reverted to the usual form. Namely, “the voters were just too racist or stupid to understand their message in 2024. They need to explain better.”

I think Democrat/Communists prefer "woke" as it aligns closely with the cult's updated definition of "democracy"; a definition which is not new at all as it is, in every significant respect, consistent with the longstanding definitions of "socialism" and "communism".

That is, the Democrat/Communist Party is stuck with "woke"; that is, unless they revise completely their party's political platform to something other than that which, in nearly every respect, aligns with that of the Communist Party USA platform.

Basically “rebranding” is “same sh*t, different name.” What the Dems have lost through overuse is their ability to control the terms of reference. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them attempt to ban the word outright where they still cling desperately to the power to do so: in the media and academia. The outrageous abuse of British citizens being harassed and even jailed for using disapproved words is a taste of what they have in mind here. Nothing has changed.
