A transgender bus driver took her own life by jumping in front of a train after colleagues kept referring to her as male.
Ava Michal Hudson, 27, died on August 7 last year on her way to work at the Chicago Transit Authority, while in her uniform.
She didn't leave a note and gave no indication she was suicidal before suddenly leaping to her death, just four days after attending her brother's wedding.
'Sadly, we’ll never fully know the reason for her death, but the pain left behind after her sudden departure has been acute,' her family wrote in her obituary.
'She has already been mourned by many, many friends and relatives across the globe. She will be very much missed and never forgotten.'
Hudson got her bus license just seven months earlier, last January, and passed probation weeks before her death, proudly announcing it in her final Facebook post.
The new job was a turning point for Hudson after several years of struggling with her gender and unemployment after graduating from Wheaton College in 2020.
Transition costs were expensive, running to $875 a month according to a 2022 court petition to legally change her name, plus more for counseling.
Her $61,000 bus driver salary finally allowed for expensive procedures and gave her financial independence for the first time.
'The day she got her CDL driver’s permit in November 2023 was one of the happiest days of her later life and things finally started to take a turn for the better,' her obituary read.
'She often called or texted photos to her family during breaks on her bus routes.'
But the job never quite fit - both literally, with a boxy uniform that led to passengers innocently calling her 'sir', and her isolation in the role.

Pretty much confirms he had serious mental issues.
And that nobody buys their delusions.
Should have been in a mental institution.
I had a liberal doctor tell me that the “suicide rate is high” among transgenders... as a justification for allowing them to mutilate their own bodies.
“Wait, so these folks are mentally unstable and may kill themselves unless we allow children to damage their bodies, become sterile, mutilate healthy breasts and penises OR the psychologically damaged and confused people will suicide on us?”
“Yes.”
“So, basically, they’re holding themselves hostage? Give me what I want, or I’ll kill myself? Does that seem likely behavior to encourage, promote, condone, or in any way treat positively? Or should we get these folks psychiatric treatment?”
“Well, the official treatment now is to acknowledge trans people or you can lose your license...”

Pretty much my take. The only ones I have compassion for are the person operating the train and the clean up crew.
Suppose you were a whack job and believed in reincarnation.
The only possible justification that I can think of is someone born hermaphrodite (intersex). I guess the xx/xy status is confusing and I certainly don’t understand the genetic situation.

A mentally ill male... There, NOW it reads correctly.
Actually there is no indication that misgendering caused the suicide, despite the misleading headline. The suicide was also “after” he lost his Willy, maybe that was th cause of death.
Why is the medical system not being called out for their corruption on this issue? The mentally ill are dying, people are getting shot, all because doctors are too cowardly to say they’re mentally ill.
IMO, anyone who tries to transition is filled with self-hate.
You have to really hate who or what you are to go to those kind of extreme lengths to change that.
