An Orange County [CA] man pleaded guilty to repeatedly shooting at an Orange County Sheriff’s Department helicopter after drinking during his birthday party.
Justin Derek Jennings, 40, of Laguna Niguel, pleaded guilty on Aug. 8 to one count of attempting to damage, destroy, disable, or wreck an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
On March 9, 2024, Jennings was hosting a birthday gathering at his home with family. He had been drinking and, for reasons not disclosed, became angry. After most of his family members left the home, he took out a rifle from his gun safe and fired an entire magazine worth of ammunition inside his home, prosecutors said
The remaining family members who were inside the home fled the residence and reported the shooting to law enforcement.

That is NOT going to look good on a resume!
Did he move there from Florida?
His intent was to murder someone - just lacked the guts.
I remember a Highway Patrol where Broderick Crawford said to the pilot— at least we’re safe up here—— as the guy was shooting at them with a rifle from below.
No, if he hits the right part we go straight down in this thing.
aim under and with a lead.
Oooh, a semiautomatic rifle.
If it was a bolt action, no harm, no foul?
“what about the women and children?”
“You just don’t lead ‘em as much!”
Surprised they didn’t use the leftist term “Full semi-auto”
Bolt action rifle OK?
How many people were on that chopper? THAT’S how many counts of attempted murder he should’ve been charged with.
I do not see any images of the man, at least not with a quick search.
So, revolvers are no longer considered handguns?
What a pack of horse pucky! What about attempted murder of the pilot? This guy will just pay a fine, if the DA can be bothered.
[California] Man
My surprise meter not moving.
Laguna Nigel is an expensive area.
Too bad this idiot wasn’t shot and killed after he went crazy with a semi-automatic rifle and spent 20 minutes shooting at a helicopter.
“deputies seized two revolvers, two handguns, and two rifles along with multiple rounds of ammunition.”
He’ll receive more time in California for having all those guns than he will for shooting inside his house around family members and 20 minutes shooting at a police helicopter.
I guess the dude just got a little liquored up and wanted to bust some caps. The Guns and Whiskey Club.
Accidental discharge. “Honest, Officer, I aimed it at the helicopter and the gun just went off by itself!” “Thirty times?” “Well, it’s not a very good gun...”
