The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a must see. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions and all the politics, not so much.
Chubby Checker is ninety years old.
And he ain’t in the HOF.
That’s a ton of disrespect in my book.
My mistake.
I misread the story as Chubby being 90.
He’s ONLY 83.
That said it’s still disrespectful he ain’t in it yet.
Let’s do the twist!
Chubby Checker is still alive,????
As a Philly guy, he’s pissed the Rock Hall Of Fame isn’t in Philly. The Twist is still a great song and dance.
Off topic — but does anyone have an opinion on the Baseball HOF in Cooperstown? I’ve never been, but I’ll be passing by in September and thought I might drop in. I’m not a huge baseball fan, and I’m mostly interested in early baseball, deadball era and up into the 1950s or so. Is it an enjoyable trip? I’m not sure I want to commit a day to it.
Carol Kaye is a boss still to this day. You tell em Carol.
Congratulations to Chubby Checker and I love the way he’s celebrating it. And yes, it’s late in happening. I played for a guy who should have been in his state’s country music hall of fame but wasn’t. So, I nominated him, and now he’s in. Another guy told me, “You get all your big awards way after all your accomplishments.”
His only hit is a song he didn't even write.
Spinal Tap has a better argument to be inducted into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame than does Chubby Checker.
This guy’s somehow not dead? Wow!
I prefer Don Covay's original version, also from 1961.
"Come on, Chubby, let's do the twist.
Come on, Chubby, let's do the twist.
Imitate your little sis, and go like this."
The Twist--Chubby Checker (1960)
I like his attitude.
Of course, he is most associated with “The Twist,” which was #1 in 1960 then #1 again in 1962, as well as “Let’s Twist Again” (#8 in 1961). But his song “Pony Time” (#1 in 1961) started the dance craze known as “The Pony.” He had many other hits, including the classic “Limbo Rock” (#2 in 1962).
