If it is her Electra plane, could the salt water have preserved it like the Titanic, and made it be recoverable and able to be refurbished and flown again if not too badly damaged in the landing? I don’t know much about planes or crash landings of them. Could she have put it down Sully style in the water after running out of fuel? Survived the crash with her navigator Fred?
Aluminum and salt water are mortal enemies.
If anything is left of the aircraft it’s the iron parts of the engines and not much else................
