Billions of dollars wasted going to places that do not support carbon and water based life forms.
Talk about government waste.
“Billions of dollars wasted going to places that do not support carbon and water based life forms.”
The government is going to beat that for waste.
They will spend the money and still not go there.
Much of the money will be spent on propagandists and graphic artists.
Is 2025 fun or what?
As a white person, I just have to say that I don’t care if carbon based life is there or not. Even if there is a small chance of some life form being there, I want to steal their land from them just to prove my racial superiority.

Yep. A government that has no debt and is running a surplus can afford to fund optional programs. But we do not have such a government.
The argument can be made that such programs lead to technological breakthroughs. True enough. But you can do basic research without having to go to the Moon.
The Moon is a surprisingly good environment for an airless body - its regolith can be used to build shelters from radiation and meteor impacts, as can the vast system of lava tubes; water & oxygen can be made by processing the rock. Nothing is wasted, except your comment which was on par with Vladimir Duthiers’.

Low Earth orbit and Geosynchronous orbits are the current high ground. Both sides have access to it in the Russian/Ukraine war.
Only one side had usable access in the start of the Gulf wars.
You don’t actually have to “win” the war, but you can prevent the other side from having exclusive access.
Oh, you're on of "those". None of the money would actually go to the moon. The money would go to scientists, engineers, manufacturing companies, miners, and so on. Those people would then buy homes, raise families, and buy groceries. Just like when Mercury/Gemini/Apollo were active.
I object to Musk declaring himself Emperor of Mars.
You really don’t understand the value of research and science do you?
I’ll give you one specific example: Velcro was invented as part of the original Space Program. Does that seem like an insignificant development for you.?
Most of the computer systems in electronics made significant advances because of the Space Program. Does that all seem insignificant waste of money?
