I was an early reader also, an autodidact. I don’t remember actually learning to read though. My mom says I was sounding out street signs shortly after I started talking, graduated to Encyclopedia Britannica around 1st birthday. So I must have made some phonics connection early on. I do remember the first novel I read. “Space Prison”, by Tom Godwin.
I do have strong early memories associated with trauma. EG I went to the hospital for a high fever around 7 months and recall my outrage at being treated like a baby...the ignominy, the faces of the nurses, the green tile on the walls...it’s just a disconnected memory though.

heheh I learned to fly before I was 3. My mom was a CFI and she would let me sit in the front of the J3 Cub and use the stick. I was tall enough to reach the rudder pedals and see out. Eventually I could do everything but prop start. Later the flying club got a Cessna 172 with an electric start and I guess I became truly dangerous, but my parents moved to Austin to go to graduate school, sold the planes, and I went off to boring all-day kindergarten right away. However I had also learned to drive the VW, whenever I had a chance and a quarter I would drive to the dime store and get candy. One rich day I loaded up my friends in the VW and we went to Swedish Smorgasbord together.
Computer games can unleash a lot of early potential. I recall stumbling across the toddlers playing networked BarneyDoom in teams when I went to pick up from at-home daycare...
I have memories from pre 2 1/2 years. My family moved from Texas to Kansas, so I have Texas memories which my parents confirmed, and Kansas memories. Admittedly, one was skewed and dad helped with it, I remembered a helicopter setting down in the back yard adjacent to ours and I climbed a chain link fence to look at it, but dad said that had happened at the daycare and the construction site next door—they got called because I “escaped” by climbing over a fence to get a better look at the copter. That stunt got me at least a weeks worth of close supervision.
That was pre 2 years old, in Texas, sorry.

Me ... I don’t remember much before age 17 and went to college.
I tried to find the doctor who slapped me, but he had died before got to him....
I taught my child to point out six basic colors by the age of four months. Simple repetition, and praise for correct results.
In the same way, I have taught my pets to count to four mentally (it helps when you are trimming their claws), and several other useful concepts to help keep order in the house.
I was a slow growing kid it seemed, eventually topping a 1/4” shy of 6’2” at 19. I was 5’4” starting high school at 14, still using a pillow behind my back, to reach rudder pedals in the Cessna 310 my dad was partners in. (He was a charter pilot and CFII-MEL; as well as a farmer).
I was quite the pest at 5, in the barnyard, moving tractors around for no particular reason. I had to put my back against the seat frame to be able to press the clutch down on the Oliver 88. The John Deere 730 was easier because of the hand clutch.
I’ve read that,too, which is somewhat logical. Thinking about that helped me break some old patterns. I had some minor surgeries the first two days of life, with a painful recovery. As an adult, I did not want to be overly afraid of getting hurt. So, research, prayer, and meditation on that point.
I was a few months away from my sixth birthday.
