"I said there are no journalists on the battlefield in order to help conceal reality, and you 'counter' by essentially saying there's no objective sources of that info (non-Russian), making my point at the same time." So, let's take a closer look at this issue.
We can begin by noticing:
- No independent journalists are allowed on Russia's side of the battle lines, so complaints against Ukraine from our pro-Russians are more than a little obscene.
- Thousands of journalists have served in Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022.
At any given time there are hundreds of active reporters in Ukraine from dozens of organizations. - 13 journalists have been killed in Ukraine since February 2022, 47 more were injured and another 30 arrested and jailed by Russians, one of whom was tortured & killed in Russian custody -- Viktoriia Roshchyna.
- As the US military did in Iraq & Afghanistan, Ukraine is divided into three zones, which they label green, yellow and red.
- 90% Green Zone -- hundreds of reporters can travel & report freely over 90% of Ukraine-held territory.
- 9% Yellow Zone -- dangerous areas near battle lines where dozens of journalists operate escorted by military press officers.
- 1% Red Zone -- active battle regions where few, if any, reporters are permitted, and then only with commanders' permission and military escorts.
- Further, there are several other Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) outlets for the Ukraine war, including:
- Satellite imagery supplied by commercial companies such as Maxar Technologies, Planet Labs, Capella Space and the ESA.
- Social media posts by Ukrainians & others near battle zones.
- Geolocating services to identify war footage videos & photos by place and time, to verify personnel and equipment losses.
- Drone workshops and tech hubs near the front provide data on Ukrainian equipment & tactics.
ransomnote:
"WHo's left aside from the Russians on the battlefield?
Ukrainian military, NATO/Intel/CIA etc., otherwise known as your biased sources of information.
This is WHY no journalists are allowed on the battlefield - to dismiss all unpleasant reality and limit reporting to that forwarded by Zelensky's military or NATO intel." Yes, only Russian propaganda reports from Russia's side of the battle lines.
On Ukraine's side:
- Hundreds of reporters operate freely over about 90% of Ukraine-held territory (Green Zone)
- Dozens of reporters operate with military press escorts over about 9% of Ukraine, the more dangerous Yellow Zone.
- Occasionally a few reporters are allowed with escorts into the most dangerous Red Zones, covering about 1% of Ukraine.
So, the truth of what is going on in Ukraine -- where its battle lines are drawn, what are the levels of casualties and equipment destruction, etc. -- all are readily known to anyone who makes the effort to learn it.
ransomnote: "But internationally, NATO and the US are trying to save what's left of Ukraine for the Ukrainians.
That's not because Ukraine is winning."
Everything depends on your definition of "winning".
Remember, the US Revolutionary War lasted for six years -- from 1775 to 1781.
Before 1781, the US lost three major battles for every one we won -- so we were clearly losing that war, until we won it.
As Thomas Paine wrote in our darkest hours:
“These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman."
My point is: we kept losing and losing and losing, until we won.
ransomnote: "Your content too often denies reality or doesn't make sense.
Your response contained 7 repetitions of your accusation of 'RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA'.
You pepper your writing with claims my content is 'crazy' 'luny'(sic) or insane, and yet you still expect me to read your long, boring repetitious posts!?"
You and your comrades-in-words here post blatant Russian propaganda and you refuse to consider valid data which contradicts pro-Russian narratives.
Seriously, there is no good excuse for such behavior and no valid reason for you to get upset when you're called out for it, FRiend.
