Was preventable? How profound. Somebody obviously went to college to be smart enough to figure that out.
Titan submersible disaster that killed 5 on way to Titanic was preventable as the movie made abundantly clear. It was all about one man’s ego.
The Titanic sinking was also “preventable.” That, and a MetroCard, can get me on the NYC subway.
So sunk in the same fashion as that space shuttle seal it seems.
That evil 32 degrees F.
Well, I hate to be so persnickity, but the whole Nintendo game controller thing would have been a deal breaker for me.
What movie ?
No s___, Sherlock!
“That, and a MetroCard, can get me on the NYC subway.”
The headline writer actually got paid for it.
Recall that the submersible’s owner, Stockton Rush, went out of his way to NOT hire old white men. He preferred a young and diverse team to work on his vessel.
Stupid in the extreme.
The old white men had the necessary knowledge and experience.
The young and diverse team, not so much.
For anybody interested, here is the 335 page coast guard report on the incident.
I haven’t read it yet, but my guess is there is nothing really new for people that have followed the implosion and loss of life.
Not just ego. The project was under severe financial difficulties and needed outside investors to remain solvent. Rush knew that suspending operations or acknowledging safety issues would cause investment to dry up. Thus it was about greed too.
We knew all this when the explosion occurred.
There were good documentaries on both Netflix and Amazon Prime. Probably still there.
“We knew all this when the explosion occurred.”
Most people had never heard of it when the implosion occurred.
I did the ultimate in preventing. I didn’t go.
Ya think?
The only one I feel sorry for is the 19 year old. He said he didn’t want to go, but went because it was Father’s Day and he wanted to make his Dad happy.................
Did they find the Rubik’s cube?
At 5000psi it would be a Rubik’s Platter.......................
