It’s now easy to create a totally original song with AI by typing a few sentences. It will generate the lyrics and do the song in the style you specify.
It essentially will create a “demo” that can later be recorded with real instruments, and human voices, but still, composing the song takes very little effort.
Therefore, any new music that is generated, I will assume was composed by AI, until proven otherwise.
It’s over for songwriters.
That is tragic, really tragic. Music is an art form of the soul. The human expression is what makes music. Computer generated music may just be pretty sound.
Take the human element out of the arts, and it just is no longer the arts. That is one facet civilization collapse.
“It’s over for songwriters”
That is sad, to me. And I suppose art will all be AI...Creativity will be gone, and the world will be filled with more morons. Or, will there be demand for reality?
I don't disagree as songwriting pertains to pop, country, folk, metal, some rock.
But until an AI can produce lyrics on a par with Subterranean Homesick Blues, Desolation Row, Highway 61, All Along the Watchtower... the AI-produced lyrics are just a bunch of wanking for the undiscerning public who will forget it in a week.
Of course, Dylan's chords are nothing to write home about. AI can probably do a reasonable job with the instrumental parts. And as an instrumental musician and sideman, I am glad I'm old enough that arthritis will probably take me out of performing before AI does.
