That was terrific! Thanks for reminding me of that.

IMHO - Many if not most movie watchers place considerable weight/value on the actors who play in a given movie. Major elements in a movie include: the story, the cinematography, the music and the actors. You can have a great story, great cinematography, and great music - but an AI actor or an actor you don't care for - does not a good movie make.

Bottom line: From the beginning, audiences have had their 'favorite actors', which contributed to a movie's draw. I don't see this changing.

The thing is, who will still want to be acting in 10-20 years, for every actor that ‘makes it’, how many wind up going nowhere? And that’s only going to get worse.

It could actually become a boon for stage actors, AI can’t replace that.

Ha, yeah I saw that episode. Pretty lousy music although probably good enough to be incidental music in a movie or something. The best use of musical AI I’ve seen so far (without doing much looking) is the newer King Willonius stuff on YouTube. The older stuff is pretty lame...you can really tell the learning curve of whoever is creating it.

Maybe where you live, it’s democratization. In the land of freedom, we call this theft.

You're on quite a roll today. So if a few gatekeepers control all movie and music production, this is a good thing? How? You're nuts.

The content of these new movies is horrible - yet another re-make, zillionth comic book movie, teenage horror movie - or movies featuring black as the main characters. No Thanks.

Haven’t been in a movie theater since 2019 and have no intention of going back.

Plenty of good, old content on the ad-free streaming services.

The lyrics weren’t all that bad.

That’s just it, take the lyrics that AI generated, and use them as your own, and record it, who will know? It’s fairly easy to cover your tracks.

You may still have to come up with the music yourself, though, because if you just go with what the AI generated, you’ll probably get exposed, if you know nothing about music theory.

“It’s over for songwriters”

That is sad, to me. And I suppose art will all be AI...Creativity will be gone, and the world will be filled with more morons. Or, will there be demand for reality?

Yes, there will be the demand for reality. But remember, we are in the early days of AI, where if something is AI-generated, it’s still pretty obvious that it is AI-generated.

But eventually it will be harder and harder to tell real from AI.

Given technology today, there is ample room for a guerilla style independent film maker like George Romero to arise and fill a niche in viewers desires.

I can imagine some friends, in a high school band, who are fairly capable on the instruments, have a singer with chops and personality, but can’t write an original song to save their lives, using AI to crank out a album’s worth of songs, making a demo based on it, and then promoting themselves.

Where it gets tricky is, who gets the songwriting credit? And certainly they have to keep the secret as to how the songs were composed, so if one of the members is unhappy with the arrangement, will they spill the beans?

It’s not only the ability to create a film that is exciting and aesthetically appealing that is facing competition from AI.

It seems Hollywood no longer has a monopoly and can no longer engage in blatant Leftist brainwashing and social engineering to produce faux entertainment that is offensive to normal people.

Normal people have long put up with offensive and insulting stereotypes because rejecting them would leave them with zero entertainment alternatives.

My wife and I scour Netflix for something to watch on movie night - only to wind up settling for something full of woke agendas - we make a game out of correctly predicting who will be the heroes and who the villains - all on the basis of Opposite World woke identity politics that Hollywood devoutly adheres to.

We literally hate what we are watching but we watch it anyway in the spirit of “know your enemy”.

I would love it if AI could put Hollywood out of our misery.

Maybe the fake news could suffer a painful death as well.

Does this mean AI generated actresses are going to be lecturing to us now?

Well we’ve had EDM for years, where people basically cheer people pressing a few buttons.

“If you don’t use real actors, you are just watching cartoons”

Considering hollywoods’ obsession with comic book movies (for lack of creativity), cartoons are about all they’re putting out anyway, wouldn’t you agree?

Ai will make cgi cheaper so Hollywood doesn’t have to outsource it to hacks on the other side of the planet
It’s not like writing fan fiction cut into any of the actual source material it’s based on

It’s been coming, basically inevitable. Why pay an actor/actress $xxM when you can construct one out of thin air?

We’re about to see an explosion of creativity that’s not locked down through the lens of Hollyweird.
