I learned a lot about British culture from watching Python while growing up in New York.

I learned that in Britain "chemist" means "pharmacist."

And that their phone booths are red.

It wasn't funny just because of the punchline. The whole scene was funny.

Remember his vomit bucket. His constant vomiting into the bucket and even onto the cleaning woman?

And then the waiter, "Oh dear, I've trodden into Monsieur's bucket."

The disgusted by dainty people nearby who were afraid to say anything.

The fat man's insulting behavior, which the waiter studiously ignored and maintained politeness.

"Oh sir! Just because everything is mixed into a bucket, I would not dream of giving you less than the full amount. In fact, I will see personally that the chef gives you a double helping."

James Bond taught me that a "flashlight" is a "torch."

And Absolutely Fabulous taught me that a toilet is a "loo."

I always get a kick from how many Monty Python fans there are at FR. They have never made me laugh. They are not funny at all. Only bit was good. The dead parrot pining for the Fjords
