What a cute meme, sorry I went to bed. Was just passing out some thoughts on tunnels.
I am sure Trump is on all of this. God Bless that man.

You really dig RN, We are blessed to have you.

Listening to Trump now and he is saying they are going to replace a lot of the asphalt on the roads in DC.

Then he is going to replace a lot of the grass in DC, wondering what he will find under all of that.

He and a lot of other people on here are far ahead on things compared to this great grandmother.

God Bless all the great minds on here, they keep me relatively sane.

Stay safe.

I LOVE your observations about the possible construction under the ballroom - it is PERFECT! The sleepy meme was not directed at you. I just liked it when I was meme shopping in the forum. Posting it the way I did was a product of my own sleepy mind - I thought it might be useful for others who find trolls 'sleepy'.

MORE great observations from you! Replacing the asphalt - gravel etc.!

You know I'd always wondered about his comments regarding the gravel which replaced lawn in the Rose Garden. He said it gets wet and is hard for women walking in heels. Well, yes it can be but I think that can be ammended (more walkways - coarser substrate etc.)  because many functions are held on lawn.

Walking on stilletos or even a narrow 2" heel over soft wet lawn can sink the heel into the wet dirt and leave a dirty grimey 'high tide' mark on it. Having a heel or two abruptly sink an inch or two into the dirty can cause women to stumble or lean so that trying to take another step causes the shoe to be 'caught' in the dirty and grass a little. A person can stagger and fall if the ground is very wet. But it seems the White House has known how to deal with this for years - as do most women (take the arm of the nearest gentleman not wearing stilletos!).

But gravel isn't much better - sinking a heel in between chunks of gravel can cause the same stumbling or 'drunken swaying' but can also scrape up/off the leather covering the heel.

Sidewalk or walkways would be safest  - I don't see much benefit going from lawn to gravel. I think it is a 'tunnel mining' excuse. Again - thanks for pointing me in that direction. I just saw posts blaming Melania for 'ruining' the Rose garden and sowing the dull drab 'improvement' and totally missed the digging potential behind it.

I was wondering why it was not paved or replanted. The only guesses I came up with tend to be grim.

If the earth beneath the Rose Garden were the site of supreme human suffering - one would be hesitant to leave the garden unchanged as it could be, to those who know what lay beneath it, a funereal feature. It could seem like one is walking over graves etc. to give press announcements or admire the roses.

But perhaps gravel is temporary as the land has been disrupted so much by digging up caverns etc. that it has not settled enough for other changes to be made. Gravel now and much contemplation as to what happens to that area, and areas like it, moving forward.
