Years ago, I read a book about early settlers that described in some sections some of the horrific ways of torture these “noble savages” practiced on their captives, including infants. Demonic. Nightmare fuel for me for about 2 weeks.

Was the book “Savage Kingdom” about the settlement of Jamestown? Some disturbing tales in there (the oyster shells…shudder), that have notably been left out of our history and were the reason for Captain John Smith to “go medieval” on the local population.

Really good book, btw. I think the author is British.
