We’ll miss our fellow Freeq and digital soldier Farcesensitive greatly.
This discussion on Auden’s poetry fell into my hands from another thread and I felt it was appropriate to share as it ties so well with our loss.
In our grieving it may seem like this:
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
and in our rememberance of him and his courage and our own ongoing future perhaps this:
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.
