I’d rather listen to African drums and polyrhythms vs country.

This is such a cool and uplifting story!! How unexpected. Thanks for posting, DB.
Big farming and Christian communities also make Kenya fertile ground for country and gospel music. Shared traditions of farming, Christianity and links to local folk music help explain country's popularity in Kenya.
Your comment was the first thing I thought of, too: "What? Kenyans don't like violent rap?" These Kenyan folks would be great Americans! My handicapped sister's caregiver is Kenyan and she is the most wonderful woman.

Cultural appropriation? I’m loving it. Looks like everyone is having a great time.

Try West Saharan “Desert Blues: Tuareg Rock”. You can find it on Spotify. I’d never heard of these people until last week and they have an interesting story.

Its a fun thing, the dances are great, the clothes are great, the entire style and partying is great.

They need plenty of Texas flags on the walls.

Line dancing was a lot of fun ...

Now, the people on cruises are (well, were) using fans in their line dances. They’ve now been banned, by the Cruise line.

I watched a documentary about “Zamrock”. In the 1970s Zambia produced a lot of psychdedelic rock bands, it actually sounded pretty good.

My Thailand girlfriend in ‘74 let out a big yeehah! when a country band played at the NCO Club. Her previous boyfriend was from Texas.

Will the fat nose pierced blue hairs take to tiktok to condemn Kenyans appropriating honky tonk culture?
