U.S. Dollar - Finding A Bottom?

The U.S. Dollar (USD) has had two quick rallies in July 2025 against a basket of foreign currencies.

On 30 June, USD touched a forty month low at 96.

By 15 July, it rallied back to 98.

In late July, it dropped back to 97.

By 30 July, USD rallied back to 99.2.

In general - USD 100 is considered neutral.

Below 100 is considered USD weakness.

Above 100 is considered USD strength.

All currencies are losing value. Some more than others, depending on the day of the week.

A few years ago, there was an article about purchasing power.
The 1965 dollar had the purchasing power of $7.51 in that, few year’s ago dollar.

Median income today: $80,000.

Don’t underestimate the value that the “petrodollar” effect has on the USD. Deals like EU buying American energy makes the USD have more sway in the world (reduces the odds of the USD falling from being the world’s currency).
