Just a third of Americans say they now support Israel’s actions in Gaza, and almost all of them are Republicans, a new poll finds.
The poll by Gallup is the latest in a series by the polling firm about U.S. attitudes about the war. Early on, in November 2023, it found that half of Americans approved of the actions Israel was taking in Gaza, and fewer disapproved. (Some said they did not know.) By last June, more Americans disapproved than approved, Gallup found, but there was still 42% approval.
Now, after more than a year later, the proportion of Americans who say they approve of Israel’s war in Gaza has fallen to 32%, according to the poll. Among Democrats, who started out at 36% approval, the proportion has fallen to just 8%.
The proportion of Republicans who approve of Israel’s actions in Gaza is at the same level today — 71% — as it was in November 2023, Gallup found. The gap was the largest partisan divide on the issue that the poll has ever found.
The poll was conducted July 7-21, starting when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington, D.C., and continuing during a period when concerns about a humanitarian crisis in Gaza were simmering but had not reached their current level. The results add to mounting signs of that Israel is losing the support it has long enjoyed among Democrats.
The poll also found both a plummeting approval rating for Netanyahu and sharp disapproval for Israel’s military actions in Iran among Democrats.
Gallup rearranging the D/R/I poll percentages?
The reason is that Hamas is an organic consequence of childhood conditioning among "Palestinians." If Israel wants this to end, they have to take over the schools and suffer waiting for the rest of the population to purge itself, which would seem rather unlikely.
Mission accomplished, NPR and your fellow-travelers
The news media using old nazi propaganda against Israel.
““If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”-—Joseph Goebbels
I learned decades ago never to trust Palestinian sources for news.
Technically, the actual originator of that quote was Vladimir Lenin.
Polled Hamas is more like it .
Yep, and my Tagline is still accurate.
Like ending black illegitimacy here
Israel is not willing to do that.
Israel should capture all men of military age. Put them in a POW camp.
And for the remaining population, they will have to undergo dehamasification. Then POWs can gradually return to society in Gaza.
Israel should have fought a total war for 6 months. It would all have been over by now.
Instead they're fighting an "insurgency". And the PR is not on their side.
That can be a strategic error because in the near future, the U.S. may cut off Israel diplomatically and militarily.
What do we do about their breeders?
When the Europeans were Christian, they used to send out missionaries to foreign land. The Jews do not proselytize, though.
That's a tall order with people who pray for conquest five times a day, regardless of means.
Denazification was a success in Germany. Gaza Strip is a narrow piece of territory that is 25 mile long and up to 7.5 mile wide.
Germany was defeated. Islam has not been.
Sunni Sultans in the Gulf States are not siding with Hamas (except maybe for Qatar).
If there's a total war in Gaza and Bibi was able to capture all of Hamas' fighters, then the war ends.
Right now they are fighting an insurgency so the war is not over.
Rush and Tucker got along fine.
Q&A: My conversation with Tucker Carlson
by Rush Limbaugh in the Limbaugh Letter, January 2017
It was a pleasure to speak with the host of Fox News' hot new show, "Tucker Carlson Tonight", whose storied journalism career includes co-founding The Daily Caller, co-hosting "The Spin Room" and "Crossfire", and doing battle for conservatism on many news programs.
James Golden (Bo Snerdley) has publicly expressed very kind and warm sentiments towards Tucker.
Sure, Chatsworth.
