Our ancient ancestors had a lot of exposure to the sun.
They never lived long enough to develop cancer from it.

Too much of something can be bad for you. Too little of something can also be bad for you.

But “moderate, thoughtful sun exposure,” in accordance with your risk factors, she added, “may offer benefits we’re still discovering.” No kidding!
Honestly, the arrogance of the medical community in their portrayal of themselves as the end all and be all of all knowledge is staggering. They think they're the final word on health and the human body and over the decades, time and again, have been proved wrong.

I would love to be able to go to a store and buy some SPF 4 sunscreen. I'm not worried about being out for an hour or two, but if I'm out all day I want to keep from getting scorched. Nope, it's a minimum of SPF 15 minimum now. Maximum is Doomsday Bunker in a Bottle: you might not survive in downtown Hiroshima, but you'll do fine in the outskirts.

You have an entire immune system designed to clean up the damage sun does to your skin. As long as you do not over load it a bit of sun does you good and keeps that system active.
