Acosta had two HUGE prosecution problems he could not solve.
(1) Epstein paid EVERY girl for sex.
(2) Epstein asked EVERY girl if she was 18 years old or older.
If the whole case went to trial, Epstein lawyers would ask each accuser, in public, under oath, if they accepted money from Epstein, and if they lied to Epstein about their age.
Also, Epstein lawyers would have vigorously investigated each young woman for a previous, or an ongoing, history of prostitution.
Epstein lawyers offered to plead guilty to one count of prostitution with a minor, and then pay a substantial amount of money to roughly 35 other young women, who would NOT have to testify.
All of the young women liked the idea of a large cash settlement, without public testimony, and all of them signed off on the deal.
The Acosta Deal was exactly the same deal that every victim agreed to.
The Trump quote you refer to was made in 1997 - eight years BEFORE the Epstein investigation started.
