I’m going to guess that the percentage of Alaskans that own firearms and know how to use them is well above the national average.
I was there two years ago. My son and I did an ATV tour. The email mentioned “bear repellent” as being included. I told my wife that the only bear repellent I was interested in was a firearm in a caliber starting with a four.
We get there that morning, we’re the first ones to arrive, guide is fueling up our rides. He’s wearing a nice stainless .44 Mag revolver, probably an 8” barrel, in a chest rig with a set of reloads.
So yes, I agree, based on my experience!
