My tomato plants are doing great and consist of Cherokee Purple, Solar Flare, Heatwave, Early Girl and Celebrity, with staggered plantings, I should be able to ride this out for quite a while.

When I picked my Maters this morning I got 7 baseball sized and a bunch of cherry tomatoes.

Next year put out Black Beauty and Dark Star for a real treat. Two Tasty is fantastic, but you’ll need a cattle panel trellis for that one.

My two favorites were Black Cherry and Krim...an extraordinary Heirloom.

End of the season picking...as soon as they start to turn pink, pick them and put them in a cardboard box with newspaper. I control the ripening by adding a banana or two to a box. I had tomatoes all the way to December and I'm in Upstate NY.

Early Girl an Roma plum.
Early Girl produce relatively early, and Roma Plum produce a LOT.

Mine are doing well, too.

They are Heinz variety sauce (plum) tomatoes. I use them for canning for sauce and stewed tomatoes.

FAR, FAR cheaper than buying a bushel of plum tomatoes.
