President Donald Trump seems unfamiliar with the Streisand effect, the phenomenon of inadvertently drawing more attention to an issue by trying to make it go away.
The president on Wednesday unleashed another rant on Truth Social, claiming, without evidence, that Democrats are behind the uproar over the administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Referring to Democrats, Trump wrote on social media that their “new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax.” He then appeared to turn on his own supporters: “My PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker. They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”

LOL Mother Jones LOL
Epstein is of no concern to me. Nor are ufo sightings. Deportations on the other hand...
Waiting for the next show to drop. Hopefully it’ll be a friggen boot. The more he stirs the pot the louder the screams get. I’m loving it.
You guys remind me of the pro amnesty Bushies here
This is the first issue that I am total disagreement with trump. But that doesn’t mean I hate him or his presidency. I just wonder what on Earth would make him change his mind like this.
The problem is Democrats give people solid reasons to vote against them, so no one is riding that horse. They’re not a viable opposition party. There is no third party.
Trump is expensive as far as his style and takes sometimes.
But I’m no idiot for thinking there was child rape and a ring of pedo’s operating on Epstein’s Island. Even Trump promoted that story.
My take is he’s on a different dicision tree after seeing something that was in those files.
But the PR on this has been really bad. Looks like incompetence.
It’s bigger than just Epstein. It’s about restoring trust and they are failing miserably.
In this case, Mr. Trump, you “doth protest too much, methinks...”
Uhhh...Donald...there are a lot of us supporters out here who see this obfuscation on the Epstein matter as a real blunder. Please tell AG Bondi to release the files, unredacted, immediately. Also, send letters of apology to Patel and Bongino for your temporary lapse in transparency with a promise that it won’t happen again. (Personally, I wish you would mend fences with Elon, too, as he can still be an important ally. That, plus he’s right: there’s too much pork in the BBB.)
It looks like a cover up.
I will be waiting too. The Democrats believe they have found a crack in MAGA. I think it will backfire on them. Ghislane Maxwell will get a new trial and expose everything to save herself.
I can only speculate from this end. Is it a cover up? Surely that as much is true, but why? If he simply wanted to cover it up Bondi and crew should have handled it a lot better. The PR disaster here increases attention to it more.
Its almost as if they are losing their minds.
Are they trying to burn down the building? Is this some kind of psy-op? Incompetence is the simplest of answers, but it fits here too.
Mother Jones sucks, but so does Trump’s handling of this issue. So there! One can rake both of them over the coals.
So you agree with Mother Jones magazine, got it.
Trump is serving up a fat pitch, right over the plate, for America's cynical, destructive left to hit out of the park.
Don't blame others for that.
I couldn’t possibly disagree with President Trump over this. I simply don’t have access to the details of it.
People who yell at me over this are stuck on election cycle. He does not need popularity now
That’s in fact why the Dems wanted to prevent him from getting in in 2020 and beyond
The more Trump talks about it, the more leverage he’s giving to the anti-Trump media, giving them something to talk about.
Unless he’s playing 4-D chess again...
So you proclaim you are in "the middle of the road".
As Margaret Thatcher said, "those in the middle of the road, get run over."
