America's deadliest train that kills someone every two weeks

Florida's beloved Brightline has been dubbed America's deadliest train after it was revealed to have revealed killed someone on average every 13 days.

In total, a staggering 182 people have died and 99 were injured on the tracks since 2018, leading to furious finger-pointing and calls for further safety measures around the notoriously deadly rail line.

Another 101 collisions into vehicles mercifully ended without causalities, according to an investigation by the Miami Herald and WLRN.

The high-speed trainlines first victim, 18-year-old Maddie Brunelle, died eight years ago after being struck by a Brightline train. Her mother, Amy Brunelle, continues to fret over the tracks that line Florida.

'What scares me is how much open track there is,' Brunelle told the Herald. 'And how close it is to public areas.'

Her daughter, who was bipolar and in a manic state, had walked out of a treatment facility and headed toward the tracks.

Still, the area of track where the teenager had died remains unfenced.

Brightline's dangerous reputation has spurred controversy for years, and as the first few deaths occurred in 2018 the company faced backlash for 'victim blaming.'

In Brightline's first week of service, 51-year-old Jeffrey King had been struck and killed on a bicycle in Boynton Beach, making him the fourth death at the hands of the train line at the time.

US Rep. Brian Mast called the company out for it's public comments that people such as King had not payed attention to the safety warnings at crossings.

'Stop victim blaming and take responsibility for the fact that your trains are killing people,' Mast tweeted at the time. 'Trains should stop running until massive safety flaws are resolved.'

The train-blamers really have crossed the line.

It’s about time for a railing cry for the innocent, railroaded trains.

People are steamed.

These incidents are like the silent era classic “The Perils of Pauline”, but where the cast is high and/or retarded.

Has no one ever shown their kids a roadkill and told them that if the encounter is between a vehicle and them, that the vehicle wins EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. ?

And the girl who walked onto the tracks had mental issues.

It sounds like suicide to me and I wonder just how many of those deaths are.

So the left wants all of us to depend on mass transit and are now calling for it to be banned until it’s *safe* enough for their personal preferences.

The number of car carrying trucks trying to get around the barriers is INSANE.

What the heck is WRONG with people?

The driver, unless he can prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that his truck legitimately stalled and got stuck on the tracks, should be liable for the cost of the trucks AND the cars.

“Car vs. train! The ultimate FAFO.”

According to this story one person was on a bicycle. that trumps a car for the ultimate FAFO.

Yup, and the tracks, gates, other property damaged by flying debris.

Might as well throw in lost time for the railroad and expenses for the emergency services needed to clean up the mess.

And no, I’m NOT being sarcastic.

There are lots of consequences and costs hidden in events like this that nobody thinks of.

Apparently, there was no editor involved in this article. Probably a casualty of a recent Daily Mail staff reduction.

Is the writer of this a third grader? So many awful mistakes, but my favorite may be

...the fourth death at the hands of the train line....

And I have read only the excerpt. Who knows what other gems may be in the full article?

TV reporter to a local resident,” So what do you think should be done about these train incidents” Local resident, “Well, dem trains, they be like lurk’n in the weeds somewhere and then when they see some folks running ‘cross the tracks or driv’n ‘cross them tracks, them trains rush up and hit’em”. TV reporter, “What do you think could be done to address this problem?” Local, “Well, paint them trains bright colors soz you can see ‘em, and make them have something to make noise when they’a commin, ya know like a loud horn of sumthin. And put up some gate things to keep folks from drive’n they cars ‘cross the tracks when the train be come’n.”

Gee, wished someone had’a thunk of that.

Interestingly, the article does not talk about kids getting hit by trains. With the emotion built into this article, I would think if that was an issue the writer would talk about that. As the company says, most are suicides or stupid careless people.

So weve gone from the Great Railroad Conspiracy Of the the 1800s where the general public rose up in angst against the RR companies for not reimbursing for the livestock struck and killed to human livestock being struck and killed.

” To hear the media tell it for weeks afterward the fault was with the LIRR . They pounded away on that note until people were sick of it.”

I remember that one. They drove around the gate. One of the kids was the child of a powerful politician. The crossing was finally replaced with an underpass.
