Maxwell argues she should have been protected from prosecution as part of a Non Prosecution Agreement made by Epstein - her former lover and boss - in 2007 when he agreed to plead guilty to two minor charges of prostitution in a 'sweetheart deal' which saw him spend little time behind bars.
And now, controversy continues to rage over the Department of Justice's statement that there is no Epstein 'client list' and the release of videos from inside New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center which the DOJ says proves he committed suicide in 2019 while being held in jail on sex trafficking charges.
Critics have pointed to the fact that there is a crucial minute missing from the jail house video that also does not show the door or, indeed, the inside of Epstein's jail cell.
The scandal - and alleged 'cover up' - has prompted a rebellion amongst President Trump's loyal MAGA base. Some even believe Attorney General Pam Bondi should be fired after promising to release all files relating to Epstein and his high-profile male friends only to apparently renege on that promise.
On Saturday night, President Trump posted a rebuttal to accusations of a cover-up on social media site Truth Social saying: 'For years, it's Epstein, over and over again. Why are we not giving publicity to files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan and the losers and criminals of the Biden administration?'
The Epstein 'cover-up' was also a main topic of conversation among attendees of this weekend's Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida, hosted by the conservative group Turning Point USA , an organization many credit with rallying Trump's young base before last year's presidential election.
Sharon Allen, an attendee, told NBC News: 'It's not even about Pam Bondi to me.

The list is a red herring.
We want the files.
I suspect more or less the same thing, but I can’t get a grip on why Trump would shy away from using this golden opportunity to destroy the very worst parts of the Deep State, after which he could take credit for cleaning out the Augean Stables. The zeal of his subordinates to go after the Epstein issue, then the sudden about face, suggests something changed. What?
Options: Trump learned that National Security interests really are in play; T has promised to protect Israel from dire fallout from exposure; or, T is convinced HE has exposure. Other possibilities = ?
One other possibility is that part of the files really are “fake” as President Trump said—”ringers”.
No doubt it would be a pain for the FBI to sort out the wheat from the chaff—but that could be a reasonable basis for delay not giving up in dismay.
Could it be more obvious that she’s shopping for a deal?
Because I believe they (Beltway bureaucrats) would rather burn it all down and attack the Trumpean Deplorables with all the power, might, and resources of the deep state, than be held to account. I do think Trump thinks they will kill us or at best, destroy our lives before going down for their own abhorrent conduct.

Instead of meaningless snark, I’d love to hear your analysis of the last 2 weeks. Why is Trump destroying his reputation with his own base? Why is he making himself look like a fool?
If Ghislaine speaks truth then the information will likely soon prove too much for her and she will commit suicide.
This is why it's difficult to have a conversation with people such as yourself. You believe it is a fact that Trump is covering up for a child rape gang. You are starting from a place that is so crazy, how can I have an intelligent conversation with you? I cannot, because I do not believe Trump is covering for a child rape gang.
There is more going on that we know. There has been several Major child trafficking busts since January.
I'm wondering if the Epstein files have something to do with it.
