It's true. Went over to the DUmp and there was actual shrinkage. Even felt the IQ drop a few points. Could explain a lot.

Would they measure that in metric or imperial.

We were always outside as kids....

and read cereal boxes cover to cover during breakfast. Comics, if the older kids would share.

The brain needs constant input. Safe input for sure, but I still remember all the sesame street jingles.

I can’t imagine anyone arguing about that. I have a 16 year old grandson who is NEVER OUTSIDE for any activity whatsoever. He is home schooled and when he’s not completing his lessons on the computer, he is still in front of one screen or another - always - and that doesn’t include the TV unless it’s for the games they play. I’m only the grandparent and have no influence whatsoever so to keep the peace, I also keep my silence!!

The average kid in America is outside for four to seven minutes a day, but on screens for four to seven hours," Yurich said.

Thats horrible. Our kids lived outside, born 1986, 1988, and 1991 before the screen addiction.

I was blessed. We kids were outside all day, in the woods, creeks, fields, pastures, among all kinds of critters, always with a a bunch of dogs. We were all one "pack".

Iknew how to make Rice Krispie treats backwards and forward. I never knew how to make me to get a double boiler rigged up in those days.

What are you kids doing in this house?! Get off of that phone!!

Get away from that TV! Why aren’t you doing your homework!?

I could ice skate, talk to adults AND toddlers, shop, save 15cents for the bus ride home from town, climb an apple or dogwood tree, ride a stingray bike for miles, swim, dive, play tennis, shoot hoops, ignore strangers, avoid mean dogs, and bullies.

Parents think it’s ok to be too busy to get their kids away from all of that.

It is a shame that this country is rife with pedophile kid snatchers. Ther is that

And that every mom has to work to pay taxes if her husband makes less than seven figures. If she’s married

So there’s that.

“...to aim for their children to spend approximately the equivalent of about six full weeks outside each year.”

As soon as school was out for the year, Mom did two things - took Sis & I to get a ‘Pixie’ haircut because we’d be in the lake all Summer, and then she locked us out of the house until a few days before school started again that Fall.

You probably think I’m kidding...

She would feed us, and of course we were at her bidding if she needed us to shuck corn or any other help with the canning. Other than that we were pretty much, ‘Lord of the Flies’ all Summer.

That’s computer schooled. It happens to be at home but it’s not what people pretend it is. Or what our home school group did with their kids

For three summers in a row, my buddies and me built little forts out of scrap plywood, 2 x 4s, etc. and then we’d spend hours just hanging out in them. The last one was in a tree and was the largest with tar paper on the roof and a hatch in the floor. One day, the ladder disappeared, and then a week later somebody took an axe to it.

In many places, you wouldn't dare let your kids outside.

Once the power brokers closed the asylums, the insane are now out on the streets.

“Once the power brokers closed the asylums”

Yeah. One flew over the cuckoo’s nest and ended up on our front yard.

As much for getting adequate doses of Vitamin D. I think that’s a big factor right there.

Parents used to tell kids, “I don’t want to see you in the house until dinnertime.”

My grandkids stayed with us a few years ago and you couldn’t make them go outside. They would complain that it was too hot and there wasn’t anything to do. I didn’t need a reason to go outside. I just went, mainly because there wasn’t anything to do inside. One TV, 4 stations of which only 2 came in clearly.

I don’t think there are more kid snatchers today than when we were kids, But there is definitely more media attention to them. If anything pedophile kid snatchers are probably fewer in number today because it days before tv new coverage, a stranger could come through town, grab an orphan off the street, kill them, and be gone before anyone knew (or cared) what happened.
