Should Ernst step down Rep. Ashley Hinson would run for the seat. A former TV anchor and stalwart Trump supporter, Hinson, 42, has long made no secret of her desire to run for the Senate in 2028 when Chuck Grassley is expected to retire at age 95.

I am going to miss Grassley.
No mention of Governor Kim Reynolds whose term is ending. 2 new senators in 2 cycles means more work and more resources taken from other races.

Seat is safe

Ernst seemed to go Swamp quicker than anyone I’ve seen. Maybe she just has second thoughts and is sorry. There are also rumors about her sex life which would hardly be unusual in DC.
Or maybe as simple as wanting to succeed her gal pal Kim Reynolds as Iowa governor.
Ernst was so promising as a candidate.
2 terms-they get stale. Too many examples. The next one will be an upgrade at least for one term.
2018 playbook to turn the resistance in congress over to the dems is back in play.
