NEW YORK (AP) — Ford is recalling more than 850,000 of its cars across the U.S. because the low-pressure fuel pump inside the vehicles may fail — and potentially cause an engine stall while driving, increasing crash risks.
The recall covers a wide range of Ford and Lincoln-branded vehicles made in recent model years. That includes certain Ford Broncos, Explorers and F-150s, as well as Lincoln Aviators and Navigators, documents published this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration note.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
A few of the sub-2 liter displacement engines use a "wet timing belt" Those engines you should avoid. The 2.4 liter eco-boost used in the Mustang... I have a 2015 with about 76K miles on it. No problems thus far.
That said... these engines can't be maintained by the owner. Anything serious & you're pretty much hostage to what a Ford dealership wants to charge. Ford isn't unique in this. It's industry-wide.
**putting chains on got old.**
I hope you still keep chains around, because if you are driving in wet and/or packed snow or ice you are still almost helpless in those conditions. I’ve done enough trucking through the years to see many MANY awd/4wd vehicles helplessly sliding off of the roads.
Since moving to south central TN over 8 years ago we’ve had 3 snow events that proved how helpless 4wd is in our hilly neighborhood.
My parents never had a 4wd car or pickup until Dad bought a 74 Chevy 3/4 ton 4wd. And still most of the farmers in the neighborhood still had 2wd pickups. Of course there were plenty of tractors to clear roads and barnyards, and pull vehicles.
Stuffing ten pounds of scat in a five pound bag always has the same result.thats a four banger turbo set up.
Scotty is awesome.
JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO-—NISSAN WAS AGGRESSIVELY SEEKING A MERGER WITH A STRONGER COMPANY.
NOT SURE WHAT BRAND FUEL PUMP YOU ARE USING-—
I USE CARTER & I GET THEM FROM SUMMIT RACING PARTS.
THEY HAVE NEVER LET ME DOWN-—
I DRIVE 1976 1 ton 454 Chevy 4 speed & 1979 Buick wagon.
ANOTHER REASON WHY I DRIVE OLD IRON
If the cars spontaneously catch fire would that be a “bug” or a “feature”?
If it’s that bad I don’t go out. The advantages of being retired.

Yep, that’s one of the problems I heard about. And one guy says do not buy the Chevy small turbo. I think it has that wet timing belt that bathes in oil and apart. As I understand it.
I ended up getting the Ford Ranger 4 cylinder ecoboost. It does not have the wet timing belt. But I’ll sell it hopefully before any problems. IF Nissan is still around in 5 or 6 years......I may go back to it. Always had good luck with that Frontier V6. thanks.
thanks Bob, I went ahead with the Ford 4 cylinder ecoboost. I like it so far but I may need prayers.....and I know I can count on a good Protestant Seventh day Adventist to pray for me and my Ford. Happy Sabbath!
Well, that explains it...
We need to go back to pre-EFI engines.
Actually, I wonder why someone isn’t selling a conversion that would have a mechanical fuel pump providing fuel to an EFI engine. Maybe someone does and I simply haven’t heard about it.
Have you checked out this guy?

If I ever again own a carburated vehicle, I intend on setting it up like that guy does.
Oh absolutely. Full synthetic Mobil One every 5000 miles and I don’t care what the manufacturer says about it can go more miles without a change. No way Jose.....Thanks.
____Turbos are race equipment. The engines burn at higher temps.___
Yeah, reminds of my little KTM 390 motorcycle. Fast, torque, fun.....till the engine blew not 5000 miles into it. Thanks.

Yeah, Honda. That deal fell through and now Nissan is running out of cash. They may survive, I hope they do. The Versa is now like one of the top selling cars and it’s also supposedly the least expensive list price car on the market.
And I think the Frontier is selling......I hope they survive. But I think they need a few hundred million dollars ...or more.
You contradict yourself:
“Nowadays, turbo are tuned for all the torque “right now”
“but the turbo lag was atrocious.”
“These may be direct injection engines which must use 2 fuel pumps & if either fails you are all done.”
The article refers to the LP pump. The LP pump feeds the HP pump.
I’ve had two Volkswagon that stopped dead in traffic because their cheap fuel pump relays crapped out. That experience cured me of VWs.
I had a 1974 beetle in high school and college. It was beautiful and never gave me a problem. Of course it could barely climb a hill. I think they were called pancake engines or something. Mine was almost new and well....I wish I still had it. It would be trippy to drive something like that again.......so simple.
