When I had a waitress follow me into the parking lot to protest the 20% tip I gave at a business lunch 20 years ago I was done with tipping.
If it’s a sit down meal or a haircut I give 15% and that’s it.
The new thing with fast food places and other stuff having a tip on the card reader I just pass on by.
Haircuts and donut shops I pay by plastic, but I give the worker cash, they appreciate it.
I like that they give recommendations. I was tipping way too much. If only they pay waitresses more then 2 bucks an hour, they might not be as desperate.
I absolutely will not have anything to do with any establishment that requires a tip BEFORE the food is provided. If your tip is not up to their specks you could receive a big green lugie with your meal. :(
I went to lunch with several coworkers and we all took our checks to the register to pay. Since we were paying with credit card, we were going to tip when we totaled it out and signed. The very effeminate waiter angrily came up to the register and demanded to know what was wrong with his service since we didn’t leave anything on the table. We all looked at him, pens poised about our receipts and he angrily stalked off when he saw we were paying by credit card, not cash. I think everyone left him something but today, I would tip zero and write a note about how I didn’t appreciate his aggression. Then I would take a picture of the receipt so he couldn’t post a copy and write something else.
OR I would tell him to F off.
At a bakery near me you ask the server to put croissants or rolls into a bag, and they take the bag to the checkout. The payment device is programmed to suggest a 20 percent tip. I pay cash to avoid this. on $15 I leave a $1 tip.
