Not quite, depends on the brand and where it is made. There are many styles of curry powder in India. By the way, “curry” is a British word.

The English word “curry” comes from the Tamil word “kari”.

Don’t Americans generally mean commercial curry powder made by McCormick or Schilling found at the grocery store - he means that is 50% turmeric.
