A teenage father-to-be was among seven killed when a Northern California fireworks warehouse erupted in a terrifying explosion during his first shift there, according to his devastated girlfriend.

Jesus Manaces Ramos, 18, was killed alongside two of his brothers, Johnny Ramos and Junior Melendez, when repeated explosions devastated the fireworks warehouse where they were working Tuesday in Yolo County near Esparto, according to ABC10.

The teen was on his first shift at the facility, working to prepare for the arrival of his first child, his pregnant girlfriend, Syanna Ruiz, told the outlet.

The blasts at the facility, which occurred just days before the Fourth of July, shook homes and sparked “numerous spot fires” that forced locals to evacuate, according to local reports.

The collective blaze sparked by the explosion, dubbed the Oakdale Fire, spread to over 78 acres before its progress was halted around 7:30 p.m., officials said.

Two people were treated for injuries, according to officials.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast.

All accidents are tragic. It’s going to be tough for their parents.

One has to wonder just what country those ‘fireworks’ were intended for.

My sympathies to the family of those tres hermanos.
Right now, I’m not thinking about who was here legally.
That’s just a terrible way to go, period.
But if you work at that kind of facility, one that produces thousands of small explosives, that is what some call a calculated risk.

Dupont at the delaware plant way long time ago, built berms behind the houses of the managers facing the powder factory.

As someone who has lost a child I can tell you at this point that these people, after losing three children, are waiting/hoping for death at this point. The pain must be absolutely unbearable.

I read that this area is zoned for Agriculture, and no permit was issued for this “warehouse” in the middle of farm country. Rabbit hole time for these deaths and what was really going on there...

Northern California and all hispanic, I wonder what the factory employment, local population, and modern hiring practices are?

So sorry to read about this and how terrible for the families.

I live in wildfire country and idiots around here were setting off professional grade roman candles and other fireworks.

My city switched to a drone show over firework this year. The fire danger is too high...

One year, soon, I’m expecting the left to set off firework stands all across America.

There’s a good chance this guy didn’t speak Spanish — at least not very well and not very often.

‘Likely someone smoking’

That wouldn’t be the least bit surprising.

The little bit I've heard and description of these kids makes me doubt there were strict safety standards, if any at all.

No smoking anywhere on the property would be obvious to anyone.

But beyond that, in an explosives warehouse (which is what this is) eliminating electrostatic charges everywhere - on any fans or moving equipment, floors, packing materials, etc...is absolutely necessary.

On a dry day, a charge could be generated by something as simple as a metal cleat on someone's boot moving against some uninsulated floor or metal step.

Again, from the little bit reported on this, I doubt anyone considered such detail.
