I don't like being referred to as a "Messianic Jew", even though I know that is technically correct.
I did not come to the Christian faith by way of studying Judaism, and I don't like the implication that
I'm in a separate category from Gentile Christians. Didn't Saint Paul say "neither Jew nor Greek"?
Not necessarily. Messianic Judaism is its own sect, with their own rabbis and synagogues. They even include gentile converts in their congregations.
If you're a Catholic convert (baptised and confirmed), you're a Catholic, regardless of your DNA.
What's not to like . . especially if it is correct? The Apostles were Messianic Jews. You don't want to be associated with them? I don't get it.
It's not technically correct.
A Messianic Jew is a Jew who is facing the right direction (Christ) but hasn't fully climbed on board.
The Jews who convert are Christians. Full stop. (They may identify ethnically as Jews, as convert Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, former Archbishop of Paris did, but these are not Messianic Jews.)
