He really fell for this Friends’ request.
A gullible British man was scammed by an online catfisher — believing it was a hard-up Jennifer Aniston madly in love with him.
Paul Davis, 43, told The Sun he paid out non-refundable Apple gift cards after being sent messages he believed were from the “Friends” star blowing him kisses and holding up a sign reading, “I love you.”
“I’ve had fake videos from Jennifer Aniston saying she loves me and asking for [about $270],” he told the UK paper of the scam using AI images. “I believed it – and I paid.”
The unemployed Brit from Southampton fell for the scam even though the supposed Hollywood superstar said she needed his help to pay for her Apple subscriptions.
“Are you there my love,” the scammer asked him in one exchange. “My subscription is about to expire.
He believed it, he said, because he was sent a photo supposedly proving it was Aniston’s driver’s license, then some audio clips that sounded just like Brad Pitt’s ex-wife.
Davis said scammers had messaged him incessantly, with others pretending to be tech giants Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.

Yes, indeed. I wonder how he would have reacted, if the guy said he was the prince of Nigeria?
Everyone put the phone down sometimes huh?
Well maybe he wasn’t “dumb” just a little mentally challenged...just an guess. It happened to my ex sister in law who is slightly mentally challenged not long after I was made her guardian. She thought she was talking to the real Brad Pitt on Twitter (ironic...lol). The way I found out was she didn’t know how to send money and asked me to help. We blocked that and had many long talks about scams on the net. It finally sunk it and she’s way more careful now. I check periodically and she’s doing fine with it now.
Well Elon Musk wanted to friend me on facebook, you mean it wasn’t the real elon?
It’s unfortunate he didn’t read your brilliant posts from the past where you turned the tables on a scammer. Those were classic!
Well done rah
Note to self: Make sure not to get tagged as a world-class sucker online.
Fixed it.
“He sure was dumb.”
Had a guy that worked for me that had an internet ‘girlfriend’ in China that he sent money to. I tried to talk to him about it but he would get furious.
The FOOL… I was already paying Jennifer’s Apple bill!
“gullible” is being polite...
Well he's British, so he had a head start.
I ran into one of these scammers on X claiming to be one of the engineers on Musk’s team trying and enticing me to invest in some sure fire stock making a fortune. It was amazing what he didn’t try to get some money, amongst it getting a gift card from Wall Mart and then somehow transfer the amount to him. I had fun with that sucker for over a week until finally I no longer replied.
Same thing with the pre approved unsecured loans that go to my voicemail several times a week. It’s nothing but a scam.
Condolences. I have a friend whose daughter is in similar situation, and her internet ‘friends’ are making his life a living hell. He kept her off social media until she was 18, but then the courts said he had to let her do anything she wants, despite being unable to live alone or earn money.
There really are people this stupid and many are members of congress.
