"It was a federal trial."

Thanks for point that out. Let's try this one then:

18 U.S. Code § 2422 - Coercion and enticement.

He wasn't charged with that.

"(a) Whoever knowingly persuades, induces, entices, or coerces any individual to travel in interstate or foreign commerce, or in any Territory or Possession of the United States, to engage in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

(b) Whoever, using the mail or any facility or means of interstate or foreign commerce, or within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States knowingly persuades, induces, entices, or coerces any individual who has not attained the age of 18 years, to engage in prostitution or any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title and imprisoned not less than 10 years or for life."

Doesn't mention anything about this law being related to the Mann Act which he was found guilty of.

Okay, it looks like the Mann Act thing was a misunderstanding on my part based on some bad reporting, but still, my bad.

Federal statue of limitations is still generally 5 years unless a given section extends it, which 18 U.S. Code § 2421 (Transportation to Engage in Prostitution), which he was convicted under, does not.

He was charged with "Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion" under Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1591 and 1594, but acquitted on those counts.

Interesting that he was charged with the one version of coercion and not the other. I'll leave why up to people who better understand the law than I. Reading both sections I'm not sure why they charged one over the other, but I haven't really followed the case either.
