I wrote my senior humanities thesis on this “symbionic” relationship in 1984.
The title was MANIAC.

I believe we are already slaves to computers. I can’t imagine having one hovering in my brain directing me to do what ever they “think’ is best for me ... yes master ... I hear and obey.

The definition of “the singularity” seems to have changed over the past few years. It used be a term to describe the moment that AI becomes self-aware. In this article it is used to describe the emergence of a hybrid human-AI consciousness. This kind of “moving the goal posts” suggests that evil people have already allowed the first definition to happen, and are now working on the second.

The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug. Skynet fights back.

To: cuz1961
Twenty years, just after global warming has killed every man, woman, and child on the earth. That’s right, it’s gonna wait until we’re all dead to take over. Which I think is cheating.

Yeah sure. With 30-40 million criminal cell phone-addicted room-temperature-IQ migrants spawning anchor babies at record rates, and driving on the road as though pedestrians in crosswalks are fair game to turn into roadkill, we are sure going to have to be addressing AGI and ASI in the near future.
Can't wait for CW II to finally get here and give them and their political enablers exactly what they truly deserve.

I look at predictions about technology in the future and see a theme of not understanding humanities interaction with the technology....I believe that most evaluations of where we will go with AI to be wrong and flawed. that said I think it will be verry destructive to society norms.
