Them Duke boys were at it again on Saturday…
At the Somernites Cruise festival in Somerset, KY, one brave stunt driver by the name of Raymond Kohn hopped in a General Lee replica and jumped 150 feet over/through the town’s Fountain Square. It’s a video you have to see to believe — and people on social media were posting it from every possible angle.
With thousands upon thousands in attendance for the 25th annual Somernites Cruise, known as the official car cruise capital of Kentucky, the “Dukes of Hazzard”-inspired 1969 Dodge Charger flew off the ramp, barrelled through the fountain’s bright blue water, and successfully (for the most part, at least) landed the vehicle on the other side.
The General Lee suffered some bumps and bruises on the way down, but the man inside came out of it just fine.

💯💯💯💯😵💫😵💫😵💫
It started swerving out of control when it landed. Luckily, the driver got it under control and stopped.
I had to back up and start over reading several times because the first two or three attempts I read the title as Sodomites Cruise Festival.
TV was so much better back then. (and yes it was still crappy)
A Team, Airwolf, MacGyver, Night Rider, etc
I read elsewhere that the “replica” was actually a Crown Victoria. No classic cars were harmed in this stunt.
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR CAME OFF IN THE LANDING.
BUMPS? BRUISES?
How did I miss your link?
Facepalm. Apologies.
He didn't make this jump over the fountains and crashed, unfortunately. Husband said he was using the wrong type of motorcycle with the wrong type of shocks. His son later successfully made the jump.
I was recently at the Snake River and I wanted to see where Evil Knievel had jumped. It was the highlight of the trip, IMO, because I remember all the hype about it. Difficult to explain to the kids.
The TV show probably destroyed a hundred of the old Dodges, now if you have a ‘69 Charger in good shape it is worth a fortune, like many old Mopars.
Destroyed that car. Idiot, they aren’t that common anymore.
Yeah, the show was death to B-body Mopars. Anything that looked similar to a Charger: Satellites, Belvederes, etc. Street cars just aren’t meant to survive jumps like that. But, there were a ton of beaters around back then that probably weren’t going to survive to modern times anyway.
No Stars and Bars?
There are 3 video links in the article. Here is one.

The landing was not pretty. (Not like the TV show, anyway 🤣)
Lots of editing before a program makes it to air.
