A Vietnam Airlines jet collided with a sister plane on the tarmac at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport, and shocking video shows the moment it slices through the aircraft’s tail fin in a wild runway collision.

The collision occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, when a [Saigon]-bound Boeing 787 was taxiing for takeoff and struck an Airbus A321, parked on the tarmac, waiting to depart for Dien Bien, according to VNExpress.

The moment the planes collided was caught on video.

Vietnam Airlines has suspended the four pilots, two on each plane, in the wake of the accident, whose cause remains under investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest the Airbus was not parked correctly on the runway.

Stupid pilot should’ve looked over his shoulder and used his side view mirrors before proceeding.

Did the pilot agree to go to traffic school to avoid the points?

I wonder how hard it is to be driving an aircraft, on the ground, and run into another parked airplane?

This goes back a few years, but the joke is applicable to the airlines you choose to fly. One of our class members who built ice roads to oil fields in the Soviet Union had to fly on Aeroflot all the time. He posed the question at a high school class reunion about who killed more people a scud missile or an Aeroflot jet. Of course, the answer was the Aeroflot jet.

The DEI airlines are off my list for reviewing Obits options.

” the Airbus was not parked correctly on the runway”

Just like in the city. Put on the safety blinkers, park in the middle of the street, and yell, “I just need to run in real quick.”

More of a traffic controller issue than a pilot issue !

Do you remember in the 1990's, when an Aeroflot pilot allowed his child to fly the plane, and it crashed.

Chilling final words of pilot who let kids take control of plane before crash killed everyone

Will be interested to see what Mentour Pilot has to say about this one. He does a great job of digging in deep and explaining all the factors that combined to create any given aircraft "incident."

If the Boeing collided with the Airbus, why the hell did they suspend the pilots?

No, that I don’t remember. As an old navy guy, I wanted to go up to the pilot house of ferry in Puget Sound. I couldn’t, because previously a pilot had invited his girlfriend up and he had grounded the boat when he tried to go too close to her house.

They probably have a protocol of suspending all involved pilots until the investigation is finished.
